Switchgear
Switchgears are a type of power distribution devices combining primary and secondary distribution equipment. A switchgear is usually composed of switches, protection devices, inspection panels and insulators. It is often used to control and protect transformers and electric circuits in substations or power plants.
Switchgears can be divided into two types, high-voltage and low-voltage. The former can be further divided into fixed and handcart types. The fixed switchgears are mostly applied in small and medium-sized plant’s substations. A feature of the handcart type switchgears is that essential components like high-voltage circuit breakers are installed in the movable handcart. During the equipment inspection, the electricity supply can be restored as long as the handcart is moved to its original place, making the maintenance more convenient and reducing the power failure duration.
The low-voltage switchgears are also common in power transmission, distribution and conversion. Thanks to its versatility and reliable performance, the low-voltage switchgear is widely used in various industries, such as chemical production, metallurgy, textile, construction and oil exploration.
